THE POWER YOU HAVE... WHICH NO ONE WANTS YOU TO KNOW

In my many years as a counselor, I have been intrigued by how people are so easily led astray by how others see them... and through all this, fail to recognize all their wonderful gifts and abilities.
Think about it for a moment: "Do YOU really know yourself...?"

No, I'm not talking about your level of education, not even your job, money, age, health, disease, or relationship status... no, not even your Astrological Sign. If you take all this away, what is left...? WHO are you...?!

Most people will struggle to find a proper answer (and for all you New Agers, please do not respond with that trite comment, "I am a Soul having a Human Experience". Until you have achieved a proper Soul-Fusion, and are fully enlightened, then - at best - you are a Seeker who is trying to walk the Path of Light... but hey, so are we all...

To get back to the Question - this search to 'know our Self' is not posed in vain (no, I'm not that much of a tease, 'though I may from time to time)... This is a very, very(are you paying attention?) very important Question... for within you is your True Essence, the Power you have fought so hard to achieve over the many Incarnations(and if you are one of the shy violets who isn't comfortable with 'power', it's just Light... pure, radiant, joyful, glowing

Light, through which so, so much can be revealed and achieved).

So, if it is so simple, (hey, just go within and check out the bright lights...), then why aren't we all 'Enlightened'?! (and just an FYI - if someone tells you that they are enlightened, there is a sure-fire test: just ask them to walk on water... after all, it's been done before, so we know it's practical proof!)

But I digress - We are not 'Enlightened' because we have been caught in that sticky mess which we call Life... not that wonderful, joyous, loving, prosperous, laugh-my-head-off Life... but the other kind. The one where we bitch and complain, gossip and moan about all that is wrong... until, at the very end we are so tired, so depleted of energy that all we can do is imbibe one more drink so we can go to sleep... blotto... no one is home...(not a pretty picture... alas, far too common...).

So - just to pique your interest - this month's classes are dedicated to YOU... the struggles you may have with Life, with energy vampires, a wounded heart or a torn aura, and how to find your Center once again... and, just for fun, how to create two talismans for blessings and protection... Oh yes, there is also a Rejuvenation Process... in case you were interested.

PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF APRIL

Spring, and its promise of renewal, is here and the Sun(our consciousness) is in the dynamic sign of Aries. He is joined by mental Mercury(until 4/5), eccentric Uranus, and relationship-oriented Venus(as of 4/5) and we are picking up this cardinal signs commitment to enthusiasm, independence and adventure. With the myth of Jason and the Argonauts, we encounter the bravery which is attendant to pursuing heroic goals. Jason and his companions traveled far to liberate the Golden Fleece from the possession of an evil dragon. Success was achieved but we are reminded of the pitfalls which may follow success if we are impetuous along the way. Jason relied on the assistance of Medea, a very iffy ally/sorceress/princess and, in the end, tragedy ensued. The moral of this story is that courage is admirable but the repercussions of our actions must be considered. Karma, anyone?

The planet Mars, the Cosmic Warrior, rules Aries and has an intimate relationship with each of us. We are charged by his essential, fiery energy and need to calibrate this formidable part of our make-up to serve us well. This requires us to understand our instincts and how we may incorporate them into our efforts to achieve personal and sociatal goals. He is now in fiery, spiritual Sagittarius so we're experiencing his influence in this area of our life. As the month begins, he is slowing his pace before actually turning backward April 17. This ushers in a period of reflection which, in turn, leads us to reassess belief-systems from the past which may need to be overhauled.

Venus, Goddess of Love, enters fiery Aries April 5, offering us a passionate take on relationships while Mercury, Messenger of the Gods, moves into earthy, affectionate Taurus at the same time. Venus rules Taurus in her value-oriented capacity which includes a huge commitment to Nature. Mercury, in this practical position, plugs into her appreciation of material beauty, guiding us to embrace opportunities of natural beauty, suggesting we should open up to our environment.

The April 7th New Moon(new beginnings) in inspirational Aries supports this expansive trend. The Sabian Symbol states "The 'magic carpet' of oriental imagery; the use of creative imagination" alludes to a viewpoint to which we aspire. Creative detachment opens us up to input beyond our logical thought. Thoughtful Mercury cooperates with ethereal Neptune in watery, transcendent Pisces, April 12, encouraging us to arrange for quiet time to entertain our daydreams.

Where do we find an environment conducive to ruminating?
How do we honor our personal space?

April 18, the day after Mars turns backward, transformative Pluto in serious Capricorn follows suit, further stressing the emphasis on our turning inward to review the implications of the changes we've been processing for years now. Whether we like it or not, the structures in our lives are shifting and we need to ponder how we're dealing with this. Both Pluto and Mars rule watery, profound Scorpio and healing is this sign's ultimate aim for all of us. Delays we now face promise to bring us future rewards. Let's think of our greater awareness and current confusion as good investments in expanding our perceptions.

The Sun moves into earthy, Venus-ruled Taurus April 19, closely followed by the Full Moon(culmination) in Scorpio April 21. The Moon is always associated with our emotions and in Scorpio our feelings may become intense. Let's take to heart the Symbol's message lauding the benefits generated when we participate in activities which support us all. "A house-raising party in a small village enlists the neighbors cooperation; the feeling of community demonstrated in a basic joint effort." We are not alone on our journey so let's have fun sharing this wild ride.

April 22 Venus expresses an interesting facet of her multi-layered nature. She embraces unconventional Uranus in Aries, forging an alignment based on their common appreciation of individual autonomy. We may find new alliances ourselves by extending our interpersonal reach while practicing discernment, always keeping in mind the over abundance of glamour surrounding us.

Mercury(thought) joins his colleagues retrograde April 28. His presence in earthy, methodical Taurus asks us to rethink issues affecting our home territory. He's also bringing up unfinished issues relating to how we value ourselves. Venus arrives in her home sign April 30 to guide him in tackling where our perceptions need to be recalibrated.

Should we gently begin a new health program?
Do we want to enlarge our social circle?

With five planets being retrograde by the end of the month, it's likely that we have the sensation that we're in a tug-of-war, being torn between expansion and contraction as each day goes by. Beside the planets we've observed to change course in April (Mars, Pluto, Mercury), we have two giants who have been retrograde for some time. They are expansive Jupiter in perfectionist Virgo and strict Saturn in spiritual Sagittarius. These energies don't co-mingle well and continue to require a nuanced approach for their goals to be reconciled. This will take time and in the meantime, we have our own projects to keep us busy!

    A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Libra occurs on Wednesday, March 23 and sets the tone for a recalibration of how we experience ourselves in our relationships with others.  

    Our quest for inner peace invites us into a different perspective of Good Friday and the Easter weekend.  A time of internal transformation is at hand.  The Universe is preparing us for a great awakening.  All of these planetary activations lead up to the potential for a new experience of our self and our greater purpose for living.

    We begin April like the Fool in the tarot card; stepping out in faith into a new adventure. The New Moon in Aries on the morning of April 7 invites us to own and express the new version of our true self. This “awakened” version of self will likely perceive things differently when it comes to making decisions about what is of most value.

    Emotional issues involving home and family are likely to arise on Wednesday, April 13 at the First Quarter Phase of the Moon in Cancer. Mars goes retrograde in Sagittarius on April 17 so we may want to be flexible about plans for travel, especially to foreign countries.  Pluto going retrograde in Capricorn on April 18 will give us time for internal reflection regarding the wise use of power and the next steps forward for our personal and business success.

    A Full Moon in the sign of Scorpio on Thursday, April 21 reminds us to pose a question:  What do we need to let go of in order to manifest what we truly want and value?  

    Mercury will go retrograde on Thursday, April 28 in the sign of Taurus and will not return to direct motion until Sunday, May 22. During the time while Mercury is retrograde we will have ample time to re-evaluate our attitudes and decisions about money and what we perceive to be of most value.  

    Venus entering Taurus and the Last Quarter Phase Moon in Aquarius on the eve of Friday, April 29 will support us in attracting money and partnership for a worthy cause.

ON HEALING… AND DESIRE

I have spent the early part of my Journey seeking to study 'Magic', actively looking for Teachers to satisfy my insatiable curiosity... I wanted to know all the deepest secrets - "how things work... what makes them tick... and , above all, WHY...?!" ... and in my (not so innocent) youth, thought that 'Magic' would, finally, grant my answers. Well, it didn't quite work out that way... you see, the more answers you get, the more questions arise... (it's truly never-ending - but the Journey was fun).

So, in my quest, I studied with great Shamans, Medicine Men(and Women), Spiritual Teachers of different Lineages... and they all demanded that I first master two things:

1) Learn how to Meditate... for it would grant me Peace, and teach me to be Still.
2) Learn how to Heal... for in any 'search for Power, it is too easy to hurt another'

And so my Journey went forth, bringing me more information than I ever thought possible... and here's the most important thing I learned:

Pain and sorrow, grief and tears, are unfortunately far too common in Life... Man is NOT the wonderful Enlightened Being he believes himself to be... he stumbles around, unconscious of the hateful thoughts and dismissive words that he casts so easily around him... and how often these hurt another... especially those sensitive of Heart.

While many may say, "This may well be... but certainly I do not..." to them I would ask, "Have you not watched the News recently... and had you not a strong response... Be aware that even a Thought is Power Projected... and, whatever you send forth, so it shall come back to you..."
So my training progressed - a bit of study on Magic, and a lot of study on Healing... until, finally I understood Why...

We are all 'Beings of Power', yet most is locked in our pain and sorrow... and only once we are fully integrated, will we be granted access to our own Gifts, and only now able to craft a Life of Love and Wonder... to do otherwise is to risk becoming a Black Magician...

Which brings me to the purpose of this account - for the next two months I will be offering a workshop on Healing and Desire, to explore not only various techniques for healing self or others, but also to understand the Spiritual Causes behind Disease... (lest it repeat itself).

We meet every Saturday, from 11 to 12:30, at the Center for Alternative Therapies (4155 East Jewell Ave., Suite 1102, Denver 80222), starting March 12. Registration is through the Shining Lotus Bookstore (303) 758-9113... class size is limited, so pre-registration is advised.

ON LIGHT AND WISDOM... AND THOSE THAT HAVE NOT

I have always been fascinated by 'people' - no, not you 'n me, or those who Walk the Path... for they are not 'common folks' by any means... I'm talking about 'the good ol' joe', the neighbor next door, the guy who is happy to simply put one foot before the other as he meanders through Life... for he is truly Blessed! (did that get to you... were you expecting me to sprout forth on some kind of Higher Spiritual ego... No?! good for you!)

The reason why they are - indeed - Blessed, is in the clarity they have reached in life. They are much more direct, more open, and approach life plainly... they know what they want, and go after it without qualms... even 'though it may not be what you or I would consider "Esoteric", still, in its materialism it brings them fulfillment and even satisfaction.

So now I ask you - "Are we, the self-styled Seekers of a Higher Truth, in any way 'better', are we living a simple, direct Life? Are we happy in our Search, and, more importantly, are we satisfied...?!

You see, if you are not 'happy', if what you do does not truly, 100%, fill you to the brim and back... then I think this Life is merely a 'potential' and not all that it could be, (and by being so, I wonder of the Karmas left unfulfilled... and more still to come). Do we, as Seekers, understand that we are to be "the living examples of Spirit-in-Form", and as such must hold ourselves to a much higher standard...? Not because of any fear, or punishment (Karma is more than enough)... but simply because "that is the Life we have willingly and joyfully embraced... and as such, can do no other..."

... so, I ask you again, "are you happy...?"

Things to think about... not with remorse, or even anger or frustration... but with peaceful clarity. Whatever... but DO think about it.

This month's classes are offered as an invitation for deepening this self-exploration... from Love and Fear, to healing "Lack"... from sabotage and self-sabotage, to Energy Vampires... so that, in the end, we may know ourselves - not through our Ego - but by our Radiance, now fully able to Walk the Path with Love, and Light... and above it all, with Wisdom, (hope to see you on the Journey... just don't get lost, please...?)

PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF MARCH

We are now in Pisces Season which means that Spring will arrive soon. This also indicates that it is time for us to tie up the loose ends which remain from the astrological year which is coming to a close. This water sign stresses sensitivity and tolerance so, hopefully, we employ these qualities with ourselves as we sort through our own issues.

Right now the Sun(our consciousness), inspirational Neptune and mental Mercury(beginning 3/5) are hanging out in the sign whose symbol depicts two fish swimming in opposite directions, in the depths of the ever-changing ocean, surrendering to the flow of the great unknown. This gives us a clue that we are encouraged to release our dependency on strictly rational thought. This can be scary but we're needing to turn to our feelings and instincts to be able to pick up the nuances of mysterious Neptune(ruler of Pisces) is sharing with us. To pick them up, we need to be quiet and pay attention to our inner voice.

Pisces and Neptune, as a team, are fully capable of guiding us into marvelous realms way beyond our ken but they can also conspire in misleading us through illusion and glamour. When we deal in ideals, we are frequently disappointed and feel we have been misled(propaganda anyone?). Our challenge is to remain functional in this world, free from the temptations of escapism, while embracing an expanded world-view, making room for the transcendent in our lives. Artistic and other types of creativity access energy which opens all types of doors to our potential. Sometimes this leads us to feeling ungrounded and confused.

To help us keep in mind the need to be aware of our fuzzy thinking as we experience reliable boundaries dissolve before our very eyes(through a fog), assertive Mars enters fiery, wise Sagittarius (March 5) somewhat shifting the focus from our inner realm to our outer obligations. The New Moon Solar Eclipse in Pisces March 8 further helps us hone in on what is of the most import to us as we forge ahead. Solar Eclipses happen during a New Moon, initiating changes arrived at by turning inward and sorting through our past in order to clear the decks for new projects.

Haven't we  heard about this process ad nauseum?

Well, it's still important for our journey to self-empowerment and the mystical is now a strong component. The Sabian Symbol gives us a glimpse of this: "A master instructing his disciple; the transfer of power and knowledge which keeps the original and spiritual creative impulse of the cycle active and undeviated".

Are we allowing ourselves time to explore new avenues of thought?
Are we retiring to stillness on a regular basis?

March 12, the planet of personal love, Venus swims into Pisces adding an emphasis on our earthly relationships. This is a happy melding of Venus' devotion with the transpersonal inclusivness of Neptune's universal love, leading to expanding our horizons.

Do we nurture our heart-connections to allow for us to grow in mutual understanding?

Our active engagement in getting our act together pays off big time when we welcome the Vernal Equinox March 19. The Sun enters fiery, dynamic Aries ushering in the New Astrological Year, seen from ancient times to epitomize rebirth. The first day of Spring is equal in length between night and day and represented the reappearance of both spiritual and physical shoots of life. Gatherings were held to celebrate the resurrection of Persephone from the annual tenure in the Underworld. In modern times, it is the time the faithful around the world congregate to honor the resurrection of Jesus.

Three days later, March 23, we have the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse(culmination) in airy, harmony-loving Libra. The Symbol refers to the need of individuals to convene to share with each other their deepest longings to connect: "Around a campfire, a group of young people sit in spiritual communion; the necessity to unite with kindred spirits as one enters unbeaten paths illuminated by still-insecure light of a dawning intuition of new values".

How are we acknowledging this fertile time to initiate new beginnings?

This renewal requires increased energy to fuel our new ventures and March 21, communicative Mercury enters Aries to assist in this sign's message of change and progress, leading to inspiring new ideas. Fiery Mars, the planet that rules Aries is in equally hot Sagittarius, and the Sun, Saturn, Mercury and Uranus are also contributing their flames to the furnace. To temper this potentially volatile confab, we have lovely, airy Venus still hanging out in compassionate Pisces connecting with transformative Pluto in stabilizing, earthy Capricorn on March 29. Just to be on the safe side however, let's have our soothing music and Bach Flower remedies at the ready!

IT'S TIME TO MAKE DECISIONS... ARE YOU IN OR OUT...?

Ever since I can remember I've questioned 'Authority' - no, I was not a brat, nor was I a 'rebel' - I was just looking for Truth... and with that I also wanted Trust... and here lies the problem: you can get 'truth' as defined by others, you can even get 'trust'(as long as you accepted it as 'faith')... but you seldom get a Higher Truth... or selfless Trust.

Why is this important??

Well, just take a look around you - from political propaganda, to GMOs... from declining educational standards to self-serving(read selfish) enterprises... and the never-ending corruption and self-serving ethics... you wonder why the world is so full of hatred and conflict?

But, what about YOU?... what about your opinions... your beliefs... your perceptions...?

Are you so ready to simplistically accept the so obvious trashy propaganda that is all around... or do you put your trust(faith ?) in a personal spiritual guidance...? (and, if that is the case, how much effort do you spend on it - is it daily... weekly... or just whenever you're in need...?!)

So... (with apologies to Jabberwocky) - "the time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things... to not play the game of greed and lack, or fear of endless things... but to love and live with Radiance within... for with each breath the last one comes far too soon... and would you stand at that final door and decree: alas, alack, I just wanted more..."

CHOOSE!... do not be a puppet...

... find the Power within you and change your Life to be a true reflection of your own Radiance - no, it's not for the elitists, nor for those 'blessed with Special Gifts' (actually, they are the most at-risk... they just don't know it yet). What do you fear... what do you have to lose...? This year has the potential to be very productive, to offer you many unexpected opportunities... and equally, demand that YOU(once and for all) be in charge of your Life.

So, what say you: are you in or out...??

We are dedicating February's classes to Power and Self-Empowerment... to understanding Choices... and what they require of us, but be warned... this stuff about 'being in charge' is not for everyone... far too many are quite happy just drifting, drifting like a leaf on a pond... ah, what a simple Life.

PLANETS AND POSSIBLITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF FEBRUARY

As the month begins, the Sun(our consciousness) is in humanitarian, individualistic Aquarius. Although it is an air sign, its image is that of the Water Bearer who is pouring water from a jug. This moisture is being shared with the beings of the Earth to introduce the water of new life. It is also a necessary component for generating electricity which Aquarius rules. Uranus, The Great Awakener, is the planet we look at to understand the motivations at play here. The message is: Aquarian insights are brilliant, impersonal and aimed at instigating a new order.

February 1 we find ourselves dealing with Uranus in fiery, aggressive Aries clashing with Mercury(our thought processes) in traditional, earthy Capricorn. This may cause us to feel conflicted in our decision-making since there's a mental tug-of-war going on. Let's pend on rushing to judgement until the dust has settled.

Also in the picture, we have the Moon(our emotions) in watery, intense Scorpio joining hands with aggressive Mars(the traditional ruler of Scorpio) offering us access to previously unconscious material. This should ring a bell since we've been unearthing all sorts of stuff for a LONG time. The strategies we've developed during our self-analysis continue to serve us well and will continue to receive aid from the Cosmos. Case in point, February 6, Mercury joins optimistic, spiritually oriented Jupiter in guiding us to gain a clear perspective regarding our beliefs. Fiery Jupiter, associated with religion, is now going backward in discriminating, earthy Virgo(retrograde until 5/9) asking us to consider and review where we have made commitments and where we're heading.

How have our perceptions and values evolved through the years?
Are we comfortable with a particular belief system at this time?

The February 8 New Moon(new beginnings) in Aquarius picks up the theme of our spiritual well being with its Sabian Symbol message. "A large white dove bearing a message; the answer of spiritual agencies to thorough, sustained, and victorious individual efforts." The impact we exert upon our environment is closely related to our ability to integrate the inspiring influences available to us.

This New Moon coincides with the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Yang Fire Monkey. The Monkey is associated with intelligence while Fire represents initiative and courage. We experience sparks as Mars in Scorpio interacts with the Sun and Moon, contributing passion to our endeavors. Greater understanding of ourselves is promised but detachment to all stimuli will serve us well. When we feel ourselves drifting into drama, let's focus on our breathing!

February 13 Mercury finally enters Aquarius bringing an airy, creative take on our daily routines. Two days after Valentine's Day on February 16, relationship-oriented Venus joins Mercury in the sign of the Water Bearer and this pairing suggests ways we may direct our efforts to promote humanitarian goals within our environment.

Is there some group or organization which has captured our attention and admiration?

February 18 the Sun enters watery, empathetic Pisces bringing a strong element of compassion to the fore. This supports the symbol's message for the February 22 Full Moon(culmination) in earthy, responsible Virgo. "Black and white children play together happily; the overcoming of cultural pressures." Mercury in futuristic Aquarius fuels the theme of our need to transcend societal and personal illusions which limit our ability to break through outmoded viewpoints.

The last two days of the month, we are treated with planetary aspects involving balm-like energies. The 28th the Sun and dreamy Neptune, who dissolves ego boundaries, are mated in imaginative, watery Pisces. Let's aim at submerging ourselves in creative, artistic ventures which nurture our soul. The 29th beautiful Venus interacts with responsible Saturn who assists us in channeling the ethereal into our daily existence. When we remember to arrange for stillness in our routine, we're doing ourselves the favor of courting peace. During this transitional time we're living through, we deserve a break!

We all want to communicate better – it is the single most important Key to Success – and absolutely fundamental to developing a true, long lasting love relationship… but how can we even begin if we don’t really know Who we are…?

Consider this – most of us look to our achievements as a reflection of our Self – indeed, our jobs, education, financial security… all play an important role in defining us… heck, even our struggles and challenges do this. But, as each Personality IS different, then no two people with exactly the same ‘achievements’ will give them the same value… and this shapes life accordingly. And more – determines the state of health, happiness or wisdom they will manifest in this and the next life!

So, understand this clearly – How YOU perceive any one thing, reflects back on you, and shapes your Life accordingly… Success or Failure lies in how you see and interact with Life… and all of it is strongly demonstrated by your Communication Style.

Let’s make this even more complicated – Mankind is numbered in billions – everywhere you go there are people… each looking at the same thing, BUT seeing it differently… how can you hope to work as a team, to have the same values, to yearn for the same goals if you don’t know how they see the world…!? Yes, you can study  cultural behaviors, body language, and even social psychology… but if you don’t know how each Personality communicates it perceptions, then you can never really understand what makes them tick…

Enter The Enneagram —

The Enneagram is an ancient system first devised by a Spiritual-Mystical Group (which later became the Sufis). They discovered that no matter race, age, or culture, all of Mankind expresses one of 9 different personalities… (and here’s the wonderful insight) each with their own perceptions, different communication style, and different way to process information!!!

Imagine what you can do with such information – team building… easy, loving relationships, even easier(no more of that ‘Women From Venus’ stuff…)… seeking out your best, most rewarding career… bliss… no more struggling to find the most suitable work environment/neighborhood/city/country… they all have a personality and a corresponding Communication Style. Once you know this, you can be much more effective in getting your point across, even as you finally understand what is important to them – success is now easy to achieve!

Yes, I know “it’s the season for new resolutions”… to be created and declared (emphatically), just to be discarded once Life emerges once again! Wouldn’t you want – just this once – to make a new year resolution… and be given the opportunity to stick with it!?… but nooo! Life must rear its ugly head, and force you – yes, force you – to give up all your glorious dreams for yourself!

Well, NO MORE! I say (and loudly declare) that you CAN have your cake, AND eat it!!… what? you don’t believe it!?

O.K., consider this – it’s the New Year, a time of Change and New Beginnings – a time when the whole of Mankind is making plans – be these simple business plans, or one for a well deserved vacation… organizing how to spend your well deserved bonus… or just dreaming of the unlimited possibilities that may still come. Well, here’s the ‘secret’ – you can use this Universal Energy to help you achieve whatever you want… still don’t believe me…?

O.K., O.K… here’s more – my Shaman Teachers taught that at certain times of the year, the planet reaches a ‘Confluence’ – an alignment which potentially offers a Gateway to changes (nope, nothing to do with Astrology… although it can offer you some of the same) – we are talking about a Communal Thought Form, a crystallization of energies… it happens simply because so many people are all jumping aboard and making ‘New Year Resolutions’, and now you can tap into this Flow, and let it facilitate your resolutions…!

Sounds too good to be true… well, there is a small catch (hey, there’s no such thing as Free Lunch, so hear me out).

You must be clear on What exactly you want to manifest… Who do you want to be, or become… and What all is implied in this (after all, you can’t manifest a wonderful, loving Soul Mate, and still be the same old slob, can you!?)

So, yes, there is more information you need, more guidance and insight… but don’t despair… that what our seminars are all about – we are dedicating January to a series of teachings on Manifestation (but these are not your Grandma’s classes – nope, they ain’t like nuthin’ you seen before. No ‘Secret’, no Law of Attraction… this here is Pure Energy, pure Power, and Self-Empowerment… so, are you ready for it…? (hey, if you are truly created in God’s Image… then why are you not demonstrating it…!?

PLANETS AND POSSIBILITIES: A LOOK AT THE ASTROLOGY OF JANUARY

January is a time to embark on a new journey to expand our horizons. The Sun, a symbol of our consciousness and Pluto, God of the Underworld, are in earthy Capricorn. This sign is known for its efficiency and ability to achieve its highest goals, both material and spiritual (the Goat doesn’t rest until he’s reached the mountain top). Keeping all this in mind, we are reminded that in winter we must somewhat withdraw to renew our vitality and wrap up any old business which is weighing us down. We are fortunate to have Mercury (thought processes) spend most of the month going backward in Capricorn(1/9 – 1/25) encouraging us to review, rethink and recheck all communications and agreements we find ourselves involved with the earthiness lends a stabilizing element to the equation. We do realize that Mercury, as the Messenger of the Gods, sometimes slips into his role of ‘Trickster’ and many people take a dim view when technical and travel glitches raise their ugly heads during his Retrograde phase. We should, however, be in good shape honoring his admonition to take things SLOWLY. Conflicting information and hidden agendas are circulating throughout the environment and we want our thoughts to be in line with our common sense. Our thoughts determine our perspectives and beliefs which shape our life experiences and direction. Mars(actions) in watery, intense Scorpio from January 4, infuses a little passion into this mix to keep our feelings interesting.

What new interest or activity now strikes your fancy?

In what environment do we find ourselves most comfortable?

Relationship-oriented Venus in fiery, adventuresome Sagittarius gets chummy with serious Saturn on January 8 and this promises to be helpful sorting out our interpersonal priorities. The brilliant Sun in a friendly position with magnanimous Jupiter on January 13 gives us further encouragement to relax, seek out amenable companions, and enjoy ourselves.

The January 9 New Moon(new beginnings) in Capricorn actually interacts with the transformative planets, Pluto and unpredictable Uranus, while the Sun’s life-giving properties shine on. The Sabian Symbol states: “A hidden choir singing during a religious service; the fulfillment of the individual’s creative function through his participation in a group concentrated to a transcendant realization of unity.” Jupiter is now  in service-oriented Virgo and we may find creative options to pursue in order to share our gifts with others.

January 14, the Sun and Mercury rendezvous, presenting us with material we may use to refine our perceptions we’ve been mulling over for some time. January 18, action-oriented Mars in profound Scorpio takes things up a notch by cutting through subterfuge and illusory trappings which can be so easy to buy into.

The Sun enters airy, innovative Aquarius on January 20. The emphasis is on humanitarian efforts, but there’s also a strong component to encourage us to radically look beyond the limits we place on ourselves. Uranus rules this sign and is still in the tug-of-war with Pluto as to how to best totally transform reality as we know it. January 22, Pluto and Mercury conjoin in staid Capricorn which seems like an affront to all that Uranus holds dear. As they battle out their differences, let’s make sure we take advantage of whatever grounding, centering strategies we’ve developed to keep us detached and comfortable.

Are we using Rescue Remedy or other Flower Essences?

Are we reading material which we find enriching?

By monitoring our exposure to the media and being wary of getting dragged into conversations destined to push buttons, we’ll be ahead of the game. The January 23 Full Moon (culmination) in fiery, dramatic Leo helps us reframe our expectations of ourselves when we look into our behavior patterns and why we adopt them. The Symbol is “A formally dressed elderly man stands near trophies brought back from a hunting expedition; the masculine will to conquer his animal nature and to impress his peers with his skills in performing the ancient power rituals.” Rituals are known to incorporate archetypes which we all tap into every day to access what our unconscious is trying to reveal (Pluto?).

Are we finding more interesting insights surface in our consciousness under certain circumstances?

Are we consciously participating in solitary or communal rituals?

As the Full Moon is doing its magic, Venus(beauty and values) is preparing to enter Capricorn on January 24 anticipating Mercury’s forward motion there the next day. This bodes well for a measured, thougtful influence to guide us in our important forays into interpersonal adventures. There, no doubt, will be some on the path ahead because we’re headed for even more surprises from the Cosmos. In the meantime…

As December arrives, we’re becoming aware that the natural world is preparing for a major transition. The increasing shortness of our days (as in daylight) will be replaced by the advent of the return of the light” on Winter Solstice(December 21). Before this event, we find ourselves experiencing a Sun(or consciousness) bathing in the optimistic glow of fiery Sagittarius the sign whose symbol is a centaur shooting his arrow to the stars. It’s ruling planet is expansive Jupiter, who is sometimes known to forget that there can sometimes, actually be too much of a good thing. Mercury(our thoughts) is tagging along until December 9 and may be tempted by unrealistic thoughts himself. Serious Saturn, not totally comfortable in Sagittarius, comes to the rescue in offering a moderating influence on any tendency we may have to over-extend ourselves, emotionally, materially or physically.

This is extremely helpful as we assimilate the December 4 entry of relationship-oriented Venus into intense, secretive Scorpio. Her natural partner, Mars(action), is in beauty loving, airy Libra. She, herself rules Libra and with her help, his aggressive approach may be channeled into a harmony-based demeanor. For our purposes, it’s good we keep in mind how we are interacting with others during this emotionally charged season. This may be particularly evident as Mars finds himself in a stressful situation December 6 clashing with transformative Pluto in earthy Capricorn. From that skirmish, he is confronted with a Kabuki drama December 10 involving erratic Uranus in fiery Aries. Aries in is Mar’s home base so this could be a strange encounter. As these transits are taking place, we’re being given the opportunity to re-calibrate our reactions to the unexpected. Saturn represents stability and boundaries and let’s consider where our perceptions are enhancing our peace of mind.

Do we need to make adjustments to accommodate changing realities?

Are we arranging for down time during which we may relax?

The December 11 New Moon(new beginnings) in fiery Sagittarius carries the ambiance of the sign and also something else, too. It reminds us of the vision needed to further the well-being of our communities which has come down to us from ancient times. The Sabian Symbol states “In an old-fashioned village men cut the ice of a frozen pond for use during the summer; the foresighted use of natural resources to supply future human need.”

Loving Venus and transformative Pluto connect December 17 to offer us conditions conducive to opening up ourselves to greater intimacy in our relationships. This is good since this season is calling of us to deal with togetherness successfully. Let’s always remember this requires us to employ discrimination. We’re vulnerable right now as the darkness surrounds us. We may benefit from lighting a Himalayan Salt Lamp or candles to promote the feeling of coziness.

How are we nurturing ourselves?

Being kind to ourselves prepares us to welcome the December 21 Winter Solstice with open arms. Since ancient times i’s been considered a sacred time when the Sun is reborn. There have long been festivities galore, whither it be Scandinavians celebrating the god Thor, or Romans throwing themselves into Saturnalian feasting. Our own Christmas date of December 25 was derived from early Christians picking up on the Mithrian idea. For us, this is important because the “Light” symbolizes our own inner radiance which is also reborn now. We replenish it by our commitment to continue to become more self-aware.

The Sun in earthy, practical Capricorn supplies us with the persistence we need to pursue our goals. The motivation to achieve can be of personal benefit to us while it facilitates our ability to contribute to others. The sign’s symbol is the goat fish, a mythical creature who aspires to connect body and spirit. Let’s carry this cosmic connection in our consciousness as we immerse ourselves in the holiday season.

December 25 brings us the Full Moon (culmination) in watery, sensitive Cancer, Christmas Day and the forward motion of individualistic Uranus in fiery Aries. This combination portends real interesting energy swirling around the emotional terrain. Having a grounding mantra or affirmation to silently repeat may go a long way in staying detached. Let’s also not forget to have an exit strategy as a back-up plan.

The Full Moon’s symbol addresses the inner dialogue we may be holding with ourselves, sorting out contrary information which has risen from the depths of our psyche. We’ve been making inroads growth-wise but changes cause shifts and require re-balancing. It stated “A cat arguing with a mouse; an attempt at self-justification.” We’ve already made a lot of progress!

Loving Venus enters sparkly Sagittarius December 29 and let’s parlay this promising placement to a lovely experience, welcoming in the New Year.

AH, IF ONLY LIFE WAS SO SIMPLE...

As one of the Readers for the Shining Lotus™, I have one of the best jobs ever… I get to show people wonderful new opportunities, different solutions to their problems, guide them to see the bigger picture… and at times warn them of wrong choices.

I have a deep passion to help others grow and embrace all of their Gifts, to have the very best that Life has to offer, to blossom and flourish, and to make wise choices… sounds good, right?!… well, not so much.

My greatest disappointments are when they look at me with wide-eyed distress (fear?) and mumble under their breath: “It’s not that easy… Life is hard… you just can’t do that…” and then they start with all the (well-programmed) excuses: “It’s the economy/the government/the family/my husband-wife-children… we are not allowed to… I can’t just pack up and move… you don’t know what it’s like… Change is not easy… you are not out there!”

Actually, I am ‘out there’ (and beyond), and I do know ‘what it’s like’, and I also know about ‘changes’ (after all, my parents emigrated twice, and I did once more)… so let me tell you this very clearly: “You CAN do anything you want… create total changes… embrace love/health/wealth… create a peaceful and rewarding Life… and equally, you choose to bitch and moan, complain about your powerlessness (even as you still choose to invest in it), and keep your Life on this diminishing track… allowing whatever pain and sorrow from your past to still be directing your Life today (I’m not dismissing its devastating impact on your Life – just wondering how much longer it will take for the healing to be done… or, is its Karma going to play out in your next Life…?)

You see, you DO have Choices – it is your Divine Right, for you have Free-Will!

So, while your ‘choices’ may disappoint me (and my belief in Human Nature), you DO have the Right to them… just remember the Law – As Within, so Without. For every time you hold a limiting thought or belief, then you program your Life accordingly… until our very dear Law of Attraction kicks in, and now Like attracts Like… and you have just successfully programmed your Life unto diminishing returns. But there’s more – you see, even though all this is playing out in the negative, it still demonstrates that you ARE a Magnificent Manifestor… you just go turned around – so why don’t we put all that wonderful Power that you so aptly demonstrated, and create a brilliant New Life for you… humm, what do you say – you game for it??

This month’s classes are dedicated to Self Reflection, to Self Empowerment and Self Realization… so that, once again, you can loudly declare: “I am Happy… hear me purr!!!”

(and don’t worry, it is actually quite easy to achieve… just… close your eyes, take a deep breath, relax… and choose…)

LIFE IS A TRIP... JUST DON'T GET LOST!

I usually teach my students that ‘Life is for living… joyfully‘… sounds good, right?! I mean, after all who would want to live ‘unhappily ever after‘… and yet so many people do. I can’t tell you how many people come to me with just that problem – a bad relationship… and even worse divorce… abusive or neglectful parents, rude bosses, the list goes on and on…
And I always ask them how long ago did they realize this was going on?… would you believe ‘5 years’!! So, for the last 5 years they simply sat there, allowing it to go on… with feelings getting more and more abused, and the offenses mounting… and for what!?

Oh, they have many, many excuses: I did it for the kids (and what did they learn from all this?) He got a shark-lawyer (there are plenty of those, get one yourself)… It’s difficult to find work (try a temp job, they are plentiful). These are just excuses for their own lack of action… so, instead they waited until things got so bad that their very survival was at stake… and NOW they must do something to save themselves.

O.K., better late than never… but really, wake up and smell the roses (or in this case, the stinky compost). YOU make all the difference to the quality of your Life… not them, not the economy, not the bosses… YOU DO… so, do something about getting some of the joy you so rightfully deserve! (and if you don’t believe you ‘deserve’ it, I’ve got some very good counseling techniques to share with you).

Oh, one more thing, Whatever you create in this Life, will follow you in the Afterlife AND in your next Incarnation… yeah, you just can’t get away from it… Karma is a bi*#* (but you do have choices, they’ve always been there!”). Which brings me to this month’s classes – we are dedicating November to a unique understanding of Creation and Manifestation… much, much more advanced than your lil’ ol’ granma’s… and to teach you how to write a better Life’s script… so that which you choose will shape your Afterlife to be a much, much more pleasant experience. (if you thought your relationship was hell, what did you think your Afterlife would be….? a trip to Hawaii?!?).
